Our Full Landscape Construction Process

Site Prep

Every landscape job starts with the ground beneath it. Before any structural or soft landscaping work begins, we carry out full site preparation - including vegetation clearing, excavation, bulk earthworks, and rough grading to establish correct levels and falls across the site. Getting this stage right is what everything else is built on, and cutting corners here is the most common reason landscapes fail or require costly remediation down the track.

Construction

Once the site is prepped and levels are established, the structural construction phase begins. This covers everything that forms the bones of the landscape - retaining walls, footings, concrete works, drainage infrastructure, and any structural paving or edging. On the Gold Coast, where sloping blocks, reactive soils, and high rainfall are common, this stage requires proper engineering consideration rather than just building to what looks right. We construct to last, using appropriate materials, correct compaction, and drainage systems that are designed into the structure from the start rather than added as an afterthought.

Drainage

Drainage is one of those things that's invisible when it's done right and impossible to ignore when it's not. We design and install drainage as part of the construction process rather than treating it as an afterthought, which means water is accounted for before it becomes a problem. Every system is tailored to the site - taking into account natural fall, surface areas, soil type, and where water ultimately needs to go - and installed to discharge correctly so it meets council requirements and keeps your landscape performing the way it should long after the job is finished.

Soft-scape and planting

The soft landscaping phase is where a construction site starts to look like a finished yard. Once structural works are complete, we prepare garden beds with proper soil improvement and weed suppression, select and plant species that suit the Gold Coast climate and your specific site conditions, and finish with mulch to protect the soil and reduce ongoing maintenance. Turf is laid last, over a correctly prepared and top-dressed subbase, ensuring it knits in properly and establishes without the issues that come from cutting corners on ground preparation. It's the layer that pulls the whole landscape together and sets it up to thrive rather than just survive.

Dream Finish

Once construction and planting are complete, we finish the job the way it should be - with a full site clean-down, waste removal, and a final walkthrough with the client. Hard surfaces are cleaned, edges are tidied, and everything is checked against scope before we pack up and leave. We take the time to walk through what's been built, cover off any care and maintenance requirements for new turf and plantings, and make sure you're confident in looking after your new landscape from day one. The goal is to hand over a finished yard, not a work in progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you handle the whole project or just parts?

Both. Most clients want a single contractor for the entire build, but we're happy to deliver individual stages if that's what suits.

  • How long does a full landscape build take?

A typical residential backyard runs 2–6 weeks depending on complexity of scope, wet weather and material lead times. When signing a contract with us expected project run times are displayed.
